The Potomac River Albacore Fleet (PRAF) has been sailing Albacores on the Potomac River for more than 30 years. We are one of the largest fleets in the Potomac River Sailing Association (PRSA), which sails from the Washington Sailing Marina (WSM). Wednesday Night Sailing
Informal short course racing is held by the Albacore fleet Wednesday evenings from the first week of May through the last week of August right off the WSM docks. Wednesday nights races are not scored, and all about having fun and getting some sailing in. Skippers pick up crew off the dock, and will often change crew every other race. This way, everybody who wants to gets to go for a ride.
For 2009, Wednesday Night Sailing will kick off April 22nd and continue through Sept 2nd.
If you are interested in catching a ride, come on by to get a taste of Albacore sailing. We sail from 6:00 PM till dark. Join us afterwards for good food and great conversation at Cantina Mexicana AKA the Taco House (29th St just across Jefferson Davidson Hwy from Crystal City).
Sunday Racing
During the spring and fall, more formal racing is held by PRSA on the river. In order to race your Albacore in the Spring or Fall series, you must be a member of PRSA.
