We are sailing out of Sail Parry Sound and most people are staying at the Traveler's Hotel. More information on everything is here: http://albacore.ca/node/612

Sailing Instructions have been posted and emailed.

A number of the group are going to go to Henry's Restaurant http://www.henrysfishrestaurant.com/ for dinner Saturday night. Henry's is a famous island destination accessed via a scenic boat ride through the many islands. Generally it is a 2.5 to 3 hr return trip. About 35 min there, dinner and then the return trip.

Transportation needs to be booked in advance at Georgian Bay Marina http://www.georgianbaymarina.ca/(705-746-9559)

Depending on the number of interested ppl, we can have a 6:00 pm departure if we only have one load going down. If we have two loads going down the departure times will be:

First group, 5:30 departure back aprox 8-8:30
Second group, 6:45 back 9-9:30

We will use the sail parry sound as the pick up and drop off point.

Word is that there are already a number of keen teams at Sail Parry Sound. It should be interesting to hear how tuning goes tomorrow.

Here's a recap I wrote for those who couldn't make it:

The Canadian Albacore Association chose Parry Sound for reliable wind and nice scenery and we got wind and rain...lots of both! Twenty one teams entered, two from Ottawa, 30 Knot Bob from Maryland, one local and the remainder from Toronto.

Saturday things were daunting with large gusts funneling down the channel at Sail Parry Sound. Nineteen of twenty-one teams took to the water for the days racing. Winds were a solid 18 knots gusting to 26 all day which caused a number of capsizes, retirements and weary sailors. Only 13 boats finished race one and two more boats retired during race two. The race committee took pity on the fleet and abandoned for the day since only 7 boats remained in the starting area after the finish of race two. At the end of day one, Darren Monster & Tony Zakrajsek led the standings with four points from a pair of seconds. George Carter & Frank Newton had a 5th and 1st to break the tie for second place over Allan Measor & Richard Piercey with a 1st and 5th for third place.

The teams awoke to steady rain and more moderate winds on Sunday but the dampness and fog seemed to subdue most in the boat park. The rain subsided as the 11 am start approached and due to the efficient race committee work led by Samantha Webster the team was able to get four races off before the day’s 2:30pm time limit. Winds were fairly steady and increased over the day when the sun came out treating the competitors to a pleasant sail in. George Carter & Frank Newton were dominant on day two with two wins and two thirds to take the overall 2012 Canadian Albacore Provincial Championship with nine points. Allan Measor & Richard Piercey had a solid day with a fifth, fourth, first and second to take second overall with 13 points. The husband and wife team of Jamie Stanley & Julie Stewart sailed an excellent regatta in a borrowed boat following a mishap on the trek to Parry Sound. They totaled 19 points, after a drop race, edging out the day 1 leader by one point to take third overall.

The winning team of George Carter & Frank Newton sail out of Mooredale Sailing Club in Toronto and were awarded the Ontario Championship trophy and were also presented the Sail Parry Sound trophy by Larry Woolner, President of Sail Parry Sound.
